15/06/20 Tree planting targets missed, Scottish offshore wind farms, flowers

Farming Today

Across the UK, the targets for the number of trees to be planted last year were missed. The UK is one of the biggest importers of timber in the world. By failing to reach planting targets, are we simply exporting problems? It's more than a decade since bids were invited for building wind farms off Scotland's cost, and now it's happening again. Last week the bidding opened, it's estimated that Β£8 billion worth of investment could be generated by the ScotWind process, forming part of a potential green recovery from Covid-19. This week we’re looking at all aspects of the flower business in what has been a tricky year for UK growers, with many garden centres and florists shut for weeks because of the coronavirus lockdown. Presented by Charlotte Smith and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
