Farming Today

George Eustice has announced that he wants nature at the heart of a green recovery and that leaving the EU will give the UK the freedom to prioritise conservation, but not everyone is convinced he's right. An amendment to the Trade Bill which aimed to protect UK food standards was defeated and the Bill passed, and Parliamentary correspondent Mark D'Arcy explains what this might mean for agriculture. It's the turn of hoverflies and butterflies to shine as we hear about their importance to our food system and what farming can do to encourage the some 1500 species of pollinators to thrive. For some it's the planting of trees and creation of field margins, for others it's a wholesale commitment to reduce the use of pesticides. Presented by Sybil Ruscoe, and produced by Toby Field.
