A government consultation on the export of live animals is expected to be launched before the end of the year. This is a controversial issue with animal welfare campaigners calling the trade cruel and unacceptable, while those involved insist animals are well cared for and that live export is a small but important market for farmers. The Prime Minister has talked about introducing a ban once we leave the EU. This week we are going to look at the issues and hear all the arguments. Beavers were hunted to extinction in the UK about 400 years ago, but now they’re thriving in parts of Scotland, and have been re-introduced in areas of England. Trial releases of the animals aim to measure their impact on the landscape. One of those places was Woodland Valley Farm in Cornwall near the village of Ladock which has been susceptible to flooding.
