The Sausage Factory 313 – Hotshot Racing by Lucky Mountain Games/Sumo Digital

The Sausage Factory

Chris O'Regan chats to Trevor Ley of Lucky Mountain Games and Tom Turner of Sumo Digital about the design and development of their arcade racer, Hotshot Racing. Arcade racing games typically eschew real world physics and mechanics in favour of an increased sense of speed and maneuverability. Hotshot Racing takes its cues from games that were prevalent in the 1990s but also brings the experience somewhat up to date. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/sausage/TSF_Episode313.mp3   Music featured is by Jason Heine, the OST for Hotshots Racing can be bought here: https://jasonheine.bandcamp.com/album/hotshot-racing-original-video-game-soundtrack 1. 19912. Raving3. Checkered Flag The Sausage Factory is an interview-based podcast that lifts the lid on the makers of videogames. It examines the way in which games are made by asking the very people who create them, though the questions asked aren't just about game design, they also cover how developers made their start and what inspires them as creators. Split into two halves, the first segment delves into what makes the developers tick by asking about how they started, what and who inspires them and what games they are currently playing, whereas the second part of the show covers the game that they are currently working on and the thought processes behind its development. So, if you really want to hear about a game's gestation in full and frank detail then you have found the right podcast. The Sausage Factory 313 was edited by Chris O'Regan
