Aligran tells a story from her childhood to three of her grandchildren.
It's daybreak in the early 1940s deep in the Australian bush, at the family property in Porter's Retreat. Aligran is a 3 year old girl. Her father takes her fishing to catch rainbow trout for breakfast. He leaves her next to the stream while he goes ahead around the bend. She gets frightened by a fox, tries to find her way to their horse and gets lost in the bush.
After listening to the story, Aligran's grandchildren, Jess, Thea and Vincent, reflect on what the story says about their grandmother's values. Their discussion leads them to discover for themselves the concept of resilience.
