Trade deals are in the headlines, but is there too much emphasis on quantity, rather than quality? The head of the International Chamber of Commerce in the UK tells us more attention needs to be placed on their detail and governance. A campaign is being launched to urge the government to create ‘wilded’ areas in National Parks across the country. The charity Rewilding Britain claims the move would enable the government to reach its target to ‘protect 30% of Britain for nature’. Supermarkets have suspended supplies from a pig farm after The Independent newspaper showed them footage revealing neglect and abuse of their animals. Meanwhile all week we’re taking a closer look at the pig industry. In Scotland it’s relatively small, so a temporary shutdown of the main Scottish processing plant near Dundee because of a Covid-19 outbreak is continuing to have repercussions.
