I've had the privilege to interview some true legends on The School of Greatness. People like Tony Robbins, Larry King,  and Alanis Morissette, to name a few. But I recently got the chance to meet a legend of a different kind - a man who made other legends happen. Shep Gordon was the manager behind mega-talents like Alice Cooper, Blondie, and Teddy Pendergrass and knows everyone who is anyone in the music and Hollywood business. He is also credited with creating the role of celebrity chefs through his work bringing them into the spotlight. This has led to both a documentary being made about his life (directed by Mike Meyers) and a recent memoir written about him, published by Anthony Bourdain. Aside from all of those impressive achievements though, I learned that Shep is a man who is devoted to serving others. He's the kind of guy who raised 3 kids who needed him without receiving any monetary benefits from adoption. He's also the kind of guy who hosts a fundraising concert every New Years in Maui to raise money to feed the hungry on the island where he lives. And he's the kind of guy who is always looking for a way to be of service to the people around him. No wonder he's been so successful and had such a big impact. Shep told some amazing stories in our interview, but I especially loved hearing his perspective on what fame does to people and what actually matters in life.
