“The creation of authentic power is the creation of a life of joy.” - Gary Zukav Have you forgotten that you are powerful? We come into life as a whole, complete person. As infants and children we are also small, h elpless beings dependent upon our caregivers to keep us alive.   A baby can scream so forcefully that it can hold an entire plane full of people hostage in its grasp for hours on end as if to say, “I may be tiny but you can’t stop me!” If you have ever watched a toddler throw a temper tantrum, or scream “NO” at the top of their insanely loud little lungs, then you have seen the face of personal power. No matter how small a person is, their power can be gigantic! A young girl named Anne Frank who died at the age of 16 was so powerful that her diary alone has inspired hundreds of thousands of people to live authentically since 1945. “The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.” - Ferdinand Foch So when did you forget how powerful you are? Because you do have the power to create the life you desire, the relationships, the income, the lifestyle, the health. “Authentic Power is the real deal. You can’t inherit it, buy it, or win it. You also can’t lose it. You don’t need to build your body, reputation, wealth, or charisma to get it.” -Gary Zukav One of the biggest blocks to success in your business or your life is when you give your power away, even for a short time. What does it mean to give your power away? Let me break it down… We cannot choose what happens to us, but we CAN choose how we react. We can spend hours, days, even lifetimes inside a victim story of our own making. Let’s say someone hurts me, and I reflect and mourn for years after. I have spent precious life energy and time on that incident that happened ages ago. Chances are the bully has completely forgotten their transgression, but I am still stuck in the past--giving power to it. Because I am stuck in an endless loop of hurt and not forgiving, my personal power continues to be drained by this incident years and years after it has ended. We have these power leaks all over our history. Like when the energy efficiency experts come and take a scan of our home to see where the heat leaks out, we have things in our hearts and minds that continue to drain us of efficiency because we haven’t resolved them. For example, if you were bullied as a kid, you may hold on to pockets of anger, defensiveness, and bitterness that keep you from fully being close to a friend or opening up to someone you are in a relationship with. This is because you gave away your power long ago to the bully who you allowed to make you feel worthless. Just imagine how much you could do if you called all of your power back to you. If you were able to let go of those past hurts and even let go in present relationships where you feel abused or walked on. When you give your power to anger, anger multiplies. When we are angry we may feel powerful, but that is not true power. The anger actually has power over us. Think about it… Have you ever been so angry that you scared yourself? A powerful book everyone should read is Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. In this book, the author describes his real life experience of losing everything he loved in his life and being locked in a concentration camp during the Holocaust, stripped down to his “naked existence”. Frankl said, “The one thing you can’t take away from me is the way I choose to respond to what you do to me. The last of one’s freedoms is to choose one’s attitude in any given circumstance.” And... “When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves.” You have all the power within you that you need to make whatever you wish happen. You just have to remember to be unapologetically yourself and choose it. You are powerful. As Viktor Frankl said, “Between stimulus and response there is a space.
