Farming Today

The general election, Weetabix sale, New Zealand subsidies

Farming Today

The prime minister says a snap general election will help bring "strong leadership", but what will it mean for the farming community? A huge processor of British wheat, the Weetabix factory in Northamptonshire, has been sold to the American group, Post Holdings. Opponents of farm subsidies point to New Zealand, where support payments were taken away in 1984. Even though the industry found it difficult, it is now thriving in the world market. Does this provide a post-Brexit model for the UK? Presented by Anna Hill and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
