Farming Today

Metaldehyde slug killer, polling booths on farms and a countryside composer

Farming Today

Slugs can be a menace for gardeners but for farmers they can be a costly problem and are eradicated with the use of pesticides. Unfortunately the slug-killing chemical metaldehyde can get into our water supplies. A novel solution to this problem is being tested on farms in Lincolnshire and Anna Hill discovers what other methods are being used to reduce the use of such pesticides. Ahead of the General Election Anna meets a farmer who's allowing his farm to be used as a polling station. And we hear from a composer who takes his inspiration from the countryside and its wildlife. Presented by Anna Hill Produced by Alun Beach.
