Farming Today

Two Sisters chicken processor, glyphosate licensing, Scottish 'tattie holidays'

Farming Today

Farming Today hears the owner of the UK's largest supplier of supermarket chicken apologise for any malpractice - and pledge to make significant improvements at his processing plants. Ranjit Singh Boparan, who owns the poultry processor Two Sisters, appeared before the Environment Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee yesterday, as MPs launched an inquiry into food safety breaches at one of its plants. Caz Graham hears how a further delay on a decision about licensing the weed killer glyphosate is affecting one farmer who says he relies on it to allow him to use a no-till method of farming. For many children in rural parts of Scotland, it's been back to school this week after the two-week 'tattie holiday'. A break dating back to the 1930s which historically allowed the pupils to take time off from school to help harvest potatoes. Presented by Caz Graham Produced by Alun Beach.
