Farming Today This Week - Sheep

Farming Today

There are around 33 million sheep in the UK, producing meat and wool, both or home consumption and for export. In this programme, Sybil Ruscoe visits a farm near Mitcheldean in Gloucestershire, to find out more about the UK sheep farming sector. In some parts of the country lambing has yet to begin, but at Bradley Farm it is now well underway, with around 250 lambs having arrived in the last week. Sybil talks to the farmer Philip Whitehouse about how lambing is going this year, and asks how he sees the future of sheep farming. We also hear of concerns in Wales about sheep farming in a post-Brexit world, and learn about an initiative in Scotland to reduce the number of deaths among new-born lambs. Presented by Sybil Ruscoe and produced by Emma Campbell.
