Michael Gove on the Environment Bill, Modern Rural Slavery, Farm Stay Holidays

Farming Today

Last week Theresa May announced that the Government would be bringing forward an Environment Bill. Details have been scant up until now but Steffan Messenger finally caught up with Michael Gove at the Royal Welsh Show and asked him what would be in the Bill. Also from the Royal Welsh Show Mariclare Carey-Jones speaks to DS Amanda Venn from Gwent Police about the rising problem of labour exploitation in rural areas. Presenter Caz Graham asks Phil Bicknell from Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board about how the hot weather is affecting different facets of farming and what the impact might be for later in the year. All this week Farming Today is looking at rural tourism and today Rebecca Rooney reports from Webbington Farm near Chedder in Somerset which has converted barns into holiday cottages as well as adding a hot tub and a party barn. Producer: Toby Field.
