Vivergo closing, Farmers at the Cricket, Honey Bees

Farming Today

Keith Wells and Paul Tompkins speak to Charlotte Smith about the impact the closure of biofuel producer Vivergo will have on their livelihoods. Keith supplies the plant with feed wheat, and Paul takes their animal feed by-product. Both feel the Government should have done more to support the business. Somerset County Cricket club recently hosted a Farmers Day - where they allowed farmers in for free. It was the idea of Rob Waldron, the club Chaplain, and Toby Field went along to meet him and watch Somerset host Lancashire. It's Bee week on the programme and Martin Smith from the British Beekeepers Association tells Charlotte how improved knowledge, wild-spaces and the ban on Neonicotinoids are all helping the plight of the Honey Bee. Producer: Toby Field.
