Farming Today

After months of speculation, the government has finally announced details of its draft agreement for the UK's withdrawal from the EU. Charlotte Smith asks what it will mean for farming, fishing and the environment. A new experimental system for analysing the environmental impact of agricultural activity has just opened at the National Agri-Food Innovation Campus near York. It's called a mesocosm, and might offer a better way of testing the real impact of new chemicals on the environment. Rounding off Farming Today's week-long look at sugar beet production, Anna Hill finds out about the science of growing sugar beet, with a visit to the British Beet Research Organisation. Producer: Emma Campbell
