Farming Today

Pig abuse, high-tech dairy, machinery club

Farming Today

Farm workers are told by a judge that they could face prison sentences for cruelty to pigs. The evidence was revealed by undercover filming. We ask whether farms could do more to monitor their staff and keep livestock safe. All this week we're marking 'Februdairy' and taking a closer look at the UK's dairy industry. Neston Home Farm in Wiltshire has an organic herd of Jersey cattle but it also uses cutting edge technology to monitor its dairy cows. There used to be hundreds of machinery groups around the country set up by farmers to share advice about the latest innovations. The Norfolk Machinery Club was set up more than 70 years ago. Anna Hill pays them a visit. Presented by Anna Hill and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
