Like many other diseases of the nervous system, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is not a diagnosis you want to receive in the neurology clinic. But once the diagnosis is made, quality of life supersedes quantity of life. Many academic and private hospitals provide a multi-disciplinary ALS clinic to meet the needs of their patients and their loved ones.
