The government’s own advisors say ministers are missing their target to leave the environment in a better state than when they came to power ten years ago. The Natural Capital Committee says spending on the environment is ‘inefficent and siloed’. The committee chairman Professor Dieter Helm outlines what he believes needs to be done. As part of a week-long focus on genetically modified crops, we look at the role GM might play in the future.
