Sustainable intensification, Dairy prices, Slugs, Roseate terns

Farming Today

Could British farmers learn more from their counterparts in developing countries about sustainable agriculture? We report on a global study that says they can. A seabird, the roseate tern, has bred for the first time on the Skerries, a group of islands off the Anglesey coast. We hear how it's partly due to a major EU funded conservation project. Scientists at Swansea University say they've discovered naturally occurring compounds in fungi that could be used to produce a new range of pesticides to use against slugs. Anna Hill visits Norfolk dairy farmer Ken Proctor, who has one of the highest milk producing herds in the country, to talk milk prices. Presented by Anna Hill and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
