Farming Today

With the Prime Minister promising no hard border on the island of Ireland and no customs checks, sheep farmer Campbell Tweed tells Anna Hill how he thinks trade will be conducted between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland after the U.K leaves the European Union. Nick Whelan, Chief Executive of Dale Farm, one of the two big dairy co-ops in Northern Ireland tells Conor Macauley why a post-Brexit deal is vital to the continued health of the diary industry. In January this year the EAT Lancet report was published. It proposed a sustainable diet for everyone, which could feed the world's growing population without damaging the environment beyond repair. The report has now been countered by Dr Francisco Zagmutt, an independent analyst who leads consulting and research projects in quantitative modeling and risk analysis and Anna asks him about his findings. Anna Holligan reports from The Netherlands where farmers have taken to the streets around The Hague to protest against Government recommendations to reduce Nitrogen output in the industry which they say would have a huge impact on production.
