Farming Today

Beef farmers have plenty to contend with at the moment - including low prices, wet weather, and concerns over the environmental impact of what they do. Charlotte Smith is on a family farm in Hertfordshire, to talk to the vice-president of the National Farmers Union, Stuart Roberts. He explains why, despite the current challenges, he's aiming to expand his beef herd. We also hear from an academic at Cambridge University, who explains how not all beef production systems have the same environmental impact, and we find out how beef farming in America differs from the systems used here in the UK.
