Future of Agriculture 002: Organic Feed Production with Cameron Molberg of Coyote Creek Feed Mill

Future of Agriculture

Usually when people first think of organic agriculture they think of one thing: raising crops with no chemicals. Well, this industry is WAY larger and MUCH more complicated than that.

Take, for example, organic milk. A product that has become commonplace in most grocery stores. Certified organic milk must come from certified organic dairies that feed certified organic feed.

For there to be a consistent supply of milk to keep grocery store shelves full of fresh product, there must be a consistent and abundant supply of organic feed to keep the cows fed. This is no simple task. Especially considering the fact that certified organic acreage is growing, but still limited.

Cameron Molberg is the CEO and General Manager of Coyote Creek Feed Mill in Elgin, TX. Cameron and Tim talk about both the challenges and opportunities arising from the increasing demand for organic agricultural products. Cameron also notes the challenges small farmers face to make a living or just to break even.
