18/09/20 Lords review the Agriculture Bill, RSPCA on welfare standards of food imports, perry cider, cider lake

Farming Today

The House of Lords is having its say on the Agriculture Bill, and it has lots to say. We’ll be watching out for an amendment or three. We hear from the chief executive of the RSPCA who argues that getting an amendment to prevent food imports from countries that don’t meet UK animal welfare standards is critical both for preventing animal cruelty and the future of farms. We join the perry pear harvest in Herefordshire with Tom Oliver, and forget the butter mountains of the late 70s - we’ll be diving into the 2020 UK cider lake. Presented by Caz Graham and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
