Calls to abolish Scottish Agricultural Wages Board, National parks, Wine harvest, BBC Food and Farming Awards finalists

Farming Today

A Conservative MP is calling for the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board to be abolished, because she says high wages are preventing less experienced workers from being employed. The University of Cumbria has launched a new Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas, which they hope will become an international centre of excellence in the field. The English grape harvest has started several weeks early, despite the stormy weather recently. Some English south-coast vineyards, and French and German crops were very hard hit by the late frost at the end of April. All this week we're profiling the nominees ahead of the BBC Food and Farming Awards 2017 ceremony on Wednesday. Today it's the Best Food Producer Award. Presented by Anna Hill and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
