Farming Today

If plant imports are restricted because of disease threats, could that mean an opportunity for our British growers to step up to the mark? Anna Hill speaks to Tim Edwards Chair of the growers group of the Horticulture Trades Association. As Michael Gove announces that he's in talks with his US counterpart about lifting restrictions on the export of UK beef to the USA, Chris Mallon from the National Beef Association explains why this new opportunity can't come at the expense of welfare standards. For equine week Anna reports from Newmarket where a recent independent report showed racing brought £240 million pounds a year to the town. Mariclare Carey-Jones has been to meet truffle farmer Matt Simms and his dog Bella to unearth some Perigord Black Truffles. Producer: Toby Field.
