All this week Farming Today is looking at how the new EU trade deal is working out in practice for food producers. This morning - seed potato growers tell us that they are now unable to sell to their usual customers in Europe. They knew the change was coming, but they say it is causing growing uncertainty while they wait for the EU to grant the UK a derogation, to allow the last of this years sales to go ahead. Meanwhile, fishermen say they feel let down by the deal saying it is a disappointment. It follows analysis from the Scottish Government which suggests fleets will be able to land much reduced numbers of fish. Using water for power is becoming more popular on farms in mountainous areas. In the Scottish Highlands there are small and micro hydro schemes dotted across the region - but are they an environmental boon, or menace? And normally the first week of January would see the City of Oxford packed with farmers from all over the country, for the Oxford Farming Conference and the Oxford Real Farming Conference. This year however it is all very different, the Coronavirus has forced both events online. We speak to the organisers to hear what they have in store.
