Climate change and farming is our focus this week on Farming Today. What impact does farming have on global warming? How can farming reduce its carbon footprint? Is agriculture taking enough action? Nick Nuttall the spokesperson for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change explains how farming impacts on the global environment. One key to success in modern farming is diversification, another is cutting out the middleman. To this end one farm in Cornwall has invested half a million pounds in a machine that turns their eggs into liquid for the catering industry. Eight hundred years ago today the young Henry III put his seal on the 'Forest Charter' and free men had their rights to fuel and grazing in the Royal forests restored - William the Conqueror had wanted the country's woodland to himself. Today, eight centuries later, the Woodland Trust is unveiling a new Charter for Trees. Sybil Ruscoe hears how the aim is to put trees and woodland back at the heart of the nation's life.
