Farming Today

Electric tractors, Sheep milk, Agriculture in schools

Farming Today

India's first electric tractor is being launched in the sub-continent with a pledge to introduce it to the UK within 18 months. Tractor sales in India are a multi-billion pound industry and the region is regarded as the largest market for farm vehicles in the world. Innovative cheese-makers looking for new business are turning to sheep milk. There are only a handful of producers in Wales who use milk from ewes at the moment but they say it's creamier than cow or goat's milk, which makes it perfect for cheese. The way farming and rural affairs are taught to children in schools has been a subject of great debate for decades. The organisation LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) claims that there is a general lack of understanding about where food comes from and a need for more resources in secondary schools. Presented by Caz Graham. Produced by Vernon Harwood.
