Farming Today

Nestle on health and the environment, The true cost of food, Farm school education, Rural village halls

Farming Today

Global food producer, Nestle, is tracking its own impact on the environment and public health, but doesn't want to talk about obesity. A new report from the Sustainable Food Trust claims that food costs twice as much as we pay for it. It says that for every pound we spend on something to eat, hidden costs of another pound are passed on. We visit a school in West Sussex which has its own farm with livestock very much at the heart of its curriculum. One of over one hundred such schools in the UK, it works from the basis that pupils should learn about the whole livestock chain, from birth to slaughter. Presented by Anna Hill and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
