The long running Glyphosate saga in the EU takes another turn today when the current deadlock among member states goes to an appeal meeting in Brussels. The EU licence for the world's most widely-used weed killer runs out on 15th December and a decision must be made on whether to renew it for a further five years. For generations British cheese-lovers have praised the French for their Camembert, Brie and Roquefort. But the rise in popularity of UK artisan cheese has seen a Kent producer taking its food to France. Cheesemakers of Canterbury based at Faversham is now selling its products to appreciative shoppers in Calais. Could Brexit affect the future technology of Genetic Modification in the UK? At the moment European Union countries can opt-out of the cultivation of GMOs that have been authorised by the EU. But Professor Maria Lee from University College London says while Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have expressed their wish to opt-out after Brexit, there is no indication that England will join them.
