07/10/21 Calls for financial support for pig farmers

The SNP calls on the Government to provide financial support to help the pig industry. Hundreds of pigs have already been culled. This is down to a lack of butchers in processing plants which means theyโre taking fewer pigs. The National Pig Association says 120,000 extra animals remain on farms, and farmers are running out of space. They say a cull is a last resort, and if pigs have to be shot on the farm theyโre then have to incinerated as theyโre not allowed into the food chain. We hear from Scottish farmers. All this week we're looking at the wine industry in the UK. As the climate changes vineyards are having to plan differently for the future.
